For online shops
Instagram for online shops — product photos become a content plan
You already have the product photos. PostExpert turns them into posts, photo reels and carousels week after week — with copy, hashtags and your logo, published at the right time. What PostExpert cannot do is spelled out further down this page.

The problem
The shop runs. The Instagram account sleeps.
In e-commerce Instagram rarely lacks ideas — it lacks a place in the queue. Shipping first, then support, then returns, and maybe a post tonight.
The photos sit there and nothing happens
Product images exist for the shop, for ads, for the newsletter. On Instagram they show up irregularly, because each time the copy, the hashtags and a time slot are missing.
After two weeks the run breaks
The start always works. Then comes a busy week of orders — and the feed has a gap you can still see months later.
Questions under posts go unanswered
“Do you still have this in medium?” sits there for 36 hours while three other people read it and move on.
PostExpert steps in right before that: you upload photos, everything else — copy, hashtags, format, timing — grows out of them. Here is how creation works in detail.
Do the maths first
How long does your photo supply last?
This is the question everything hinges on in practice — not the price. PostExpert uses each uploaded photo once for a post. Set your real numbers below and see whether your resupply keeps up.
The rest is generated as an AI image or pulled from stock. You set this share as a percentage in the app.
New articles, restocks, detail shots — everything that gets added each month.

Your supply lasts
50 weeks
After that the AI falls back to its own imagery, and topics set to “own media only” skip their slots. Either add more photos or lower the share of your own photos.
At this frequency you need at least the Pro plan.
Calculates from your input. Simplified: it counts consumption for posts — a photo can additionally appear once in a photo reel, and a carousel uses several at once. Prices are net, excl. VAT.
The process
From product photo to published post
Set it up once; after that the only recurring job is adding photos. Everything else runs on its own.
Let it read your shop
You enter your shop’s address. PostExpert reads the site and suggests brand name, industry, description and audience — plus logo and brand colour. That becomes the basis for the tone of every later caption.
Upload product photos
Several images at once into the media pool, optionally assigned to a category — “New arrivals”, “Bestsellers”, “Sustainability”. Categories can be set to “own media only”.
Set the mix
How much reel, how much feed, how much story per week — and how much of it should come from your photos, from AI imagery and from stock. All in percentages.
Copy grows out of the image
The AI actually looks at your photo — subject, setting, colours, mood — and writes caption and hashtags from it in your shop’s voice. Your logo goes on the image if you want it.
Schedule, approve, publish
The post is scheduled and goes live automatically — or waits for your approval if you set the account up that way. The AI handles comments too if you want.
The difference from a scheduling tool: you do not pour in a finished post, only the photo. What else PostExpert does is under Features.
Your material
Product photos become posts, not a gallery
The media pool is a supply, not an archive. What sits in it gradually turns into posts; what has been used is not pulled again. That is exactly why you always know when a resupply is due.
- Upload several photos at once — JPG, PNG and MP4 up to 50 MB
- Categories like “New arrivals” or “Bestsellers”, each with its own weekly weighting
- Enforceable per category: own media only, no AI imagery
- An e-mail warning before a category runs dry
- Your logo and brand colour on every image, optionally

One photo becomes content
The AI looks at your product and writes about it
No placeholder copy and no template: the uploaded image is analysed — main subject, setting, colours, visible details — and the copy that comes out fits that one photo and your shop.
- Caption in your shop’s voice, not a template’s
- 6 to 12 hashtags that match the subject rather than a saved list
- Feed post, story or reel — according to your weekly split
- Photo reels: 3 to 6 of your images cut to the beat of licensed music
- Every caption stays editable before publishing

Questions under posts do not sit there
The comment AI answers from what it knows about your shop: the text on your website plus facts you enter yourself — shipping costs, returns, opening hours, common questions.
- Replies in your shop’s tone and in the language of the comment
- Never invents prices or availability — if it is not in your facts, it points to the website
- Draft mode: the AI writes, you review and send
- On Pro up to -1 automatic replies per week, on Ultra with no cap
- Tells praise, question, complaint and spam apart and treats them differently

Comparison
Instagram for the shop: by hand versus PostExpert
What shifts — and what explicitly stays your job.
| Step | By hand | With PostExpert |
|---|---|---|
| Product photos | Sit in a folder and wait | Sit in the media pool and get scheduled one after another |
| Caption | Typed out quickly in the evening | Generated from the actual image, in your shop’s voice |
| Hashtags | The same 15 from your notes | 6 to 12 matching the subject, fresh each time |
| Format | Usually a feed post | Feed, story and reel according to your weekly split |
| Reels | Never quite happens | Photo reels from 3 to 6 images, cut to the beat |
| Content calendar | Exists in your head | Follows from rhythm and categories, week by week |
| Publishing | When you remember | Automatic at the scheduled time |
| Comments | If there is time in the evening | The AI replies or leaves a draft |
| Brand look | Sometimes with the logo, sometimes not | Logo and brand colour automatically, if you want |
| Reporting | Gut feeling | Reach, interactions and top posts per period |
The photos, the product selection and the decision about what gets promoted stay with you. PostExpert takes over the production around it.
Plans
Which plan fits your posting rhythm?
For a single shop what matters is not the number of accounts but how many posts per week are included. Pro is the right entry point for most shops — it is also where the comment AI starts.

Carousels and photo reels from your own images
A product rarely has just one good shot. Several images in one post show variants, details and use — without anyone having to edit a video.
- Carousel with up to 20 of your own images, assembled by you in the post wizard
- Photo reels from 3 to 6 media-pool images, cut to licensed music
- AI reels as video, plus 8 premium reels per month on Ultra

- Image optimisation: lift the light, colour and sharpness of a phone photo — without changing the subject

Straight answer
What PostExpert is not, for an online shop
This is the most important section on the page. If you are coming from a Shopify app you probably assume several of these — and none of them exist.
No shop integration
There is no Shopify, WooCommerce, Shopware, Etsy or Amazon integration and no product feed import. PostExpert does not know your catalogue, your SKUs, your prices or your stock.
The AI does not create images of your products
AI imagery is generated from your brand description — it replaces a stock photo, not your product shot. There is no “upload your product and get ten variants”. Your actual articles only appear if you upload the photos yourself.
No Instagram Shopping
No product tagging in posts, no shopping tags, no product stickers, no checkout. The corresponding Meta permissions are not part of the connection.
No links in posts
Neither posts nor stories can carry a clickable link — the official Instagram publishing interface does not allow it at all, for any tool. No link stickers, no link-in-bio tool, no UTM builder either.
No click or revenue figures
Reporting shows reach, interactions, saves, shares and followers. There are no website clicks, no conversions, no revenue and no attribution of orders to posts.
No campaign or seasonal planning
There is no campaign object and no topic with a start and end date. You run a Black Friday week through an extra category or manually scheduled posts — and you switch it back off yourself.
Direct messages only on Ultra
The AI answers direct messages only on the Ultra plan — not on Basic or Pro. Meta’s 24-hour window for free-form replies still applies, and it cannot look up an order status: it does not know your shop system.
Carousels by hand only
You assemble a carousel yourself from your images in the post wizard. The AI does not build multi-slide posts automatically.
Instagram only
No TikTok, no Pinterest, no Facebook feed. For anything outside Instagram you will still need a second tool.
FAQ
Questions from shop owners
What we get asked most often before people start.
Can PostExpert connect to my Shopify or WooCommerce shop?
No. There is no shop integration and no product feed import — not Shopify, WooCommerce, Shopware, Etsy or Amazon. PostExpert does not know your catalogue. What goes into posts is the photos you upload plus the brand context PostExpert read once from your website. If you specifically need posts generated from your catalogue, a shop app is the better tool.
Can the AI generate images of my products?
No, and this is the most important point on the page. The image AI works purely from text: it knows your industry, your description and your audience, and generates a fitting but invented subject from that — a stock-photo substitute. It has never seen your product. There is no image-to-image, no product staging and no background replacement. Your real articles only appear if you upload the photos yourself.
How many product photos do I need?
Each uploaded photo is used once for a post. At four posts a week with 70 percent own photos that is roughly eleven images a month. The calculator above works it out with your numbers and tells you how long your current library lasts.
What happens when my own photos run out?
You get an e-mail and a dashboard notice beforehand. If the library empties anyway, PostExpert falls back to AI imagery and stock photos — except for categories you set to “own media only”: those slots are skipped rather than filled with someone else’s material. You can also reset the usage once so existing images become available again.
Can a post link to my shop?
No — and that applies to every tool, not just PostExpert. Instagram’s official publishing interface does not allow clickable links in posts or stories, nor link stickers. The usual route remains the link in your profile bio, which you maintain in Instagram yourself.
Can I tag products in posts like in the Instagram shop?
No, PostExpert does not support product tags or shopping tags. People can be tagged in a manually created post; products cannot.
Can I see how much revenue Instagram brings?
No. Reporting shows reach, interactions, saves, shares, profile views and follower development. There are no website clicks, conversions, revenue figures or attribution of orders to individual posts. If you need that, an analytics tool on your shop is the right place for it.
Does the AI answer questions about size, shipping and availability?
Only if it knows the answer. It draws on the text of your website and on facts you enter yourself — shipping costs, delivery times, return windows. If the answer is not there it invents nothing, but points to the website or asks for a direct message. There is no link to your actual stock levels.
Can I plan a sale or Black Friday?
Not as a campaign with a date range — no such object exists. In practice you create an extra category, weight it up for the sale weeks and deactivate it afterwards; or you schedule individual posts to a date by hand. Both work, and both you have to undo yourself.
How many posts per month are possible?
Basic allows 2 posts per week per account, Pro 6, Ultra is unlimited. On Pro that is 72 posts a month with 3 accounts — the budget is pooled across all accounts.
Can a post go live without my approval?
Only if you set it up that way. New accounts start in approval mode: the post is created and timed, but at the scheduled moment it is put up for approval, with an e-mail reminder about an hour before. Many shops switch to automatic after a few weeks.
Is automating Instagram allowed?
Yes, as long as publishing goes through Meta’s official interface — which is exactly what PostExpert does. What is problematic is automated following, mass likes and interaction bots; PostExpert stays away from those. The article [Automating Instagram: what’s allowed](blog/instagram-automatisieren-leitfaden) covers it in detail.

Upload twenty product photos and see what comes out
That is the honest test: create one category, drop twenty images in and look at the queue a week later. If the copy does not sound like your shop, you have lost nothing.
